Painting Frames For Days
Alameda’s video for the track New Leaf has truly been a labor of love for us. We chipped away at it during our downtime and used it as a way to explore new animation techniques, specifically rotoscoping over 3D animation. The goal was to combine the handmade feel of painting with the perfection of 3D camera movement and environments.

Building The Scenes
The final compositing consisted of layering a series of render passes. Starting with each separated rotoscoped character layer, we’d then add in backgrounds, shadow passes, depth, 2D effects, and final beauty adjustments.
