Balloon UI?
Our charge from W+K on this project was to build an interactive, illustrated version of Coca-Cola’s stop motion “Building” commercial that aired during the 2014 World Cup. By the very nature of the spot, we knew that the site would travel vertically up the side of the building. But, we wanted to avoid the obvious and come up with a different interaction than the scroll. Users tapped their Facebook images to add their own memories and then guided the balloon to fly up the building as it came to life.

Highlights on how this project came together.
No Barrier to Entry
We wanted to get people into the experience very quickly. So, we worked with the dev team at W+K to select a user’s photos with the most activity (likes, comments, etc) and add them to the building right when they logged in with Facebook. This way, the user got to see the experience before taking the time to edit / choose thier final photos.
Carefully Crafted
We made a custom illustration of the building for the experience using the orignal television spot as guide. Our animation team built a set of animated elements to match that we used throughout the experience to provide engaging visuals as you flew up the building.
